The National Tree of Life Celebration
The National Tree of Life Celebration occurs each year on the first Thursday of December at United Network for Organ Sharing’s Richmond, Virginia headquarters.
The celebration honors the kindness and generosity of organ, eye and tissue donors and their families. Families may create a unique ornament and hang it on the Tree of Life in honor of their loved one. Guests from across the country attend the annual celebration to honor donors and to share their experiences with organ donation and transplantation.
The online Tree of Life ornament registry includes more than 650 personalized ornaments that have been placed on the Tree of Life since 2006.

What is United Network for Organ Sharing?
UNOS runs the nation’s transplant system matching lifesaving organs-- -- heart, lungs, liver, kidney, pancreas and intestines-- -- from deceased donors to patients in need on the national waiting list. This computerized matching process takes place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and results in 92 lifesaving transplants daily across the country.
UNOS's vision is to promote healthy, long lives for people with organ failure by promoting maximized organ supply, effective care, and access to transplantation. Currently, more than 116,000 people are in need of a lifesaving organ transplant. Every ten minutes, someone is added to the national transplant waiting list and on average, 22 people die each day while waiting for a transplant.
One organ donor can save eight lives. You can become an organ donor today by registering at www.unos.org.
